Different than a hang glider used by humans, the HangliderTM is a vehicle some dwarves use to travel from (or to) a personal island.
Getting
A "Hang Glider Liftoff" must be bought with coins. A "Hang Glider Landing Site" may be bought with coins. It may be picked up off the ground by anyone (other than its owner) by just walking over it. If you have an empty slot available, it will appear in your inventory. It will then become your landing site (meaning it will not give you access to the previous owner's "Hang Glider Liftoff". You can pick up your own landing site using a shovel.
Using
- A "Hanglider Liftoff Point" must be put on your island -- select it in inventory then select an adjacent empty square.
- At least one "Hanglider Landing Site" must be put somewhere you would like to travel to, preferably somewhere you plan to travel to regularly. To do this, select it in inventory then select an adjacent empty square -- you will be asked to name it but think carefully before you decide upon a name because you will need to type its name every time you want to travel from the liftoff point to the landing site. Names can be one letter long.
- Repeat step 2 as often as you like, giving each landing site a unique name.
- Go to your island using your hawk normally.
- With your staff selected, move so your liftoff point is within your field of view then select it -- a text box asking "Where to?" followed by a code (ignore the code, it is for admins to help debug the system) will popup in which you much click in the box, type the name of the landing site, then hit enter/OK (or cancel/ESC if you do not want to go gliding) to be instantly transported onto the landing site.
- Note that having nothing selected in inventory when you select your liftoff point will show an info box with the coordinates and name of each landing site you have placed/named.
Other Uses and Important Warnings
After you complete step 4 and you are on the landing site, it is recommended that you step off the landing site as soon as you can. If you do anything (or there is an idle refresh), you will be instantly transported back onto the *liftoff point* on your island -- and standing on your liftoff point is not recommended for a number of reasons (mainly because it will cause minor annoyances that are not detailed here).
