A noob (or a newb, newbie, ...) is a term meaning a new or low-level player. Unlike in other games, being called a noob is not meant to be (as) demeaning -- it is simply a term for a player who does not yet know a lot about Toadwater.
What Is a Noob World?
Sand outside of noob world looks like this:
Each character (dwarf) who jumps from cloud world can now land in one of eight noob worlds, sometimes called newbie lands. See world of Toadwater for more information.
See death and BV for other ways to be transported to a noob world.
If you are unable to find your way out, pick a random direction and walk in it. If you run into water, pick a direction along the water and follow it. If you hit a corner, then turn. If you find a fence, then PM the owner of the fence. Depending on who the owner is, they may let you through the fences and even help you get started. See etiquette and fencing noob worlds for more info.
Noob world areas are not as safe as your cloud world because all players can freely roam the expansive noob worlds. However you cannot be trapped on a single square by fencing like you can be in other parts of the world.
What Can Be Done in Noob Worlds
- Die -- Be sure to watch your health while walking!
- Plant, tap, age, and harvest trees -- also place birdhouses and idols, but beware that anyone with an axe can remove birdhouses/idols

- Whittle anything
- Construct anything but roads
- Buy/sell items from/to the shop
- Build/use/explode outhouses
- Gather piles of poo
- Plant and harvest radishes (depending on who you ask, other crops are not recommended until your farming skill is 100, 150, or higher)
- Plant Creeping Red Fescue grass and place ground hoards and statues on the grown grass -- placing these things is not recommended since you have no way to protect them against other players
- Plant flowers
- Use workers
- Use birds and squirrels once they appear
- Prepare hemp stalks, ret, and break and scutch
- Place hackling machines, spinning wheels, rope machines, and weaving looms
- Members may be able to use spring wells
