Cooking is the skill related to food and shakes. You cannot cook until you peform a certain quest. There are many aspects to cooking.

Wells

Wells are used to wash strawberries and Sun Fungus. They are the first means of acquiring cooking EXP.

Types of Wells

There are two types of wells:

  • The 'Winter Well' on SWI
  • Spring Wells acquired from a quest.
Spring wells grant 150% of the cooking XP that the Winter Well grants. Spring wells may only be placed on underground springs (which exist most places including on personal islands).

Placing a Spring Well

To find a suitable spring, use a dowsing stick to direct you. If using the stick on a square gives the message, "You found water, but you cannot build here," that probably means you must make the square bare (chop down its tree, harvest its crops, remove its statue, etc) before it is suitable. If using the stick on a square gives the message, "You found water! Any of the squares around you will support your well," that means you can place a spring well on that square (select a Spring Well Machine then the square).
It is currently not possible to remove a well without the aid of an admin.

Shakes

A shake like a "Strawberry Blast Shake" is a refreshing Toadwater drink that will quench your thirst. You drink them like you would eat any other food by pressing the e button with a shake selected in your inventory -- see the thirst article for more info.

Making Shakes

To make shakes in Toadwater 2 one needs to create a shake making machine. To do so, follow these steps:

1) Place normal hoard
2) Attach a pipe segment next to it, the hoard becomes the output hoard
3) Build your machine - juicers (the ones with the gears) turn radishes to juice, mixers (center one in the pic) mix them, pipes connect them
4) To place input hoards, place a pipe segment, then put a hoard on top of it (no CRF needed)
5) Put one Radish in each input hoard, then open the output hoard

Adding more than the one radish required increases the chances that the materials will be destroyed. Only one type of radish should be placed per juicer.

If done correctly, your new shake making machine should look like this:

Note that this machine can only make the level one recipe. Higher recipes require a more complicated machine. For more complicated recipes, the brackets indicate the order to mix them in. For instance, for the Level 2 Recipe, you have to mix French Breakfast Radish and Purple Plumb first, and then mix the result with the China Rose. This would take a total of three juicers and two mixers to make.

Recipes

(Level 1) Plum Purple + China Rose (REQUIRES: 2 Juicers, 1 mixer, 3 Hoards)
(Level 2) (French Breakfast + Plum Purple) + China Rose (REQUIRES: 3 Juicers, 2 Mixers, 4 Hoards)

In addition to the ingredients, you need a barrel (barrel level does not seem to matter) placed on the ground next to you and a barrel churn. When the proper ingredients are in the barrel and you have an open slot in your inventory, use the barrel churn on the barrel to "cook" up shakes. If your ingredients were not a proper recipe, you will probably make a "Balmy Shake" -- the shake with the lowest quench power.

Salads

Salads are an advanced cooking product -- once your cooking skill is 175 or higher, you can make salads. Select at least 100 strawberry leaves then select an adjacent salad bowl (there is a bowl on SWI that anyone can use, it is inside Toadee McPerkins house -- players with personal islands can use a personal salad bowl):

If you have space in your inventory, you should get one of five salad types based on rolling odds -- the higher your cooking skill, the better the odds of you producing a better salad. Salad bowls get better in some way with age -- mousing over a bowl will tell you its grade which improves with age.

Using Salads

Select a salad in your inventory and eat 'e' it. Certain salads may be better used for trading than for eating (there is a quest involving salads).

(+) A "Salad" is a bug (moving something else onto it in inventory or in a hoard will destroy it)

Pumpkin Pie

Toadwater Classic Warning: The information that follows only relates to Toadwater Classic, which means this content does not exist in the current game. It is possible that this content will be added at a later date, but it may not be exactly the same as described here.

A "Pumpkin Pie" may be made (if you have an open slot in your inventory) by putting pumpkin pieces into a furnace (select the pieces then select an adjacent furnace) -- NOTE the emergency water level in the furnace/oven should be kept above 0 and this can be done by using water-filled pumpkins on it (the water-filled pumpkins will be destroyed).

So far no use other than eating has been discovered or publicly released.

Increasing Cooking

There is no radish to increase your cooking skill, as this is considered an 'elite' skill. However, eating a GR increases all of your skills 10% for 50 millis, including cooking.
