Raiding

Raiding is defined as the unsolicited chopping down of the fencing surrounding the base of a player, with the intent to cause them harm. Raiding can be one of the most destructive practices in Toadwater, so many players protect their bases with multiple layers of high-grade fencing.

All a raider really needs is an axe (any crude axe can be used if you have a LOT of free time), gold to buy replacement axes if desired, and time. Other considerations:

  • Chopping from inside an outhouse halves your per-swing axe power
  • Using an outhouse without a magazine in it will avoid anal spasms
    • Hiding in an outhouse can provide some protection against being identified, being BVd, and being lassoed
  • Eating/drinking a GR + SM doubles your per-swing axe power
  • Drinking shakes is suggested to keep your thirst up
  • Eating hearty red strawberries or salads is suggested to keep your health up
  • Constructing low level fencing with a high powered mallet can quickly plug up "holes" that you create if you completely chopping down a piece of the raidee's fencing
    • Putting gates on your fencing can allow easy access to the raidee's base since return trips are often needed if the raider wants to take everything in the base
      • Taking everything is sometimes refered to as "raping"
      • Removing all ways for a raidee to get back into their base, typically by feeding wiggleberries to all of the raidee's PPs, and then BVing the player is sometimes referred to as "evicting"
    • This can also be used to quickly block nearby access to you or to fence in players who try to intervene
      • Matt Delello said "fencing someone is currently discouraged and is against the rules. The rule is strictly in place for the raider. Fencing the resident of a property will be viewed more judgementally than other forms of fencing."
  • Using BVs (if you can plan access to them) can be temporarily remove players who try to intervene
    • A BV will stay in your inventory for a max of 10 minutes
  • Using lassos can temporarily remove and possibly trap players who try to intervene
  • Keeping at least one PP in inventory to get back to a safe area if you are BVd
    • A PP will stay in your inventory for a max of 24 hours, assuming you do not die without carrying a FF
  • Acquiring information about a raidee's base can help you plan
    • Info including how many players are in the base, when are those players typically online, who their allies are, how many layers of what level fencing separate you from your goal, and what other defenses do the raidees' have
    • The most important info to consider is how will the raidees respond if you succeed or if you do not succeed in your raid -- not considering the consequences of your raid is the best way to turn a raidee into a raider determined to get even, or worse, back at you with an even more damaging raid/rape/eviction
  • Raiding is not for the feint of heart. It follows a pattern of high risk and high reward.
    • Some players have decimated their reputations and their in-game safety by raiding those with large amounts of friends, resources, popularity, or spite. Remember: RAIDING IS NOT VIEWED THE SAME BY VIRTUALLY ANY TWO TOADWATER PLAYERS.

If you raid, be prepared to defend your own valuables when your victim comes knocking on your fences.
