Collecting
Tree sap, like "Balsam Fir Sap" or "(+1) Balsam Fir Sap", collects on taps on trees. Anyone with a slot in their inventory can step on a tapped tree (or use a yellow-bellied sap-sucker) to collect all the sap that has accumulated.
Power
The power of the sap is equal to 5 + tree level + Age Bonus, "but the age bonus gets harder to get the older it get." <Req. More Information>
The easiest way to tell the power of sap is to look at its sell price: multiply the sell price by 10 then round down. The sell price of "(+1) Balsam Fir Sap" should be between 0.20 and 0.29 and its power is 2.
See the wax workshop article for more info.
Stacking
Beware that sap from the same tree level will stack in ground hoards/inventory -- when stacked its sell price, and therefore its power, will be averaged. 100 drops of "(+1) Balsam Fir Sap" with a sell price of 0.20 when stacked with 100 drops of "(+3) Balsam Fir Sap" with a sell price of 0.48 will result in 200 drops of "(+2) Balsam Fir Sap" with a sell price of 0.34.
Production
The Sap Production Tables can be used to determine how much sap a tree will yield given a tap of a specific power. These can be useful for people seeking quick reference information.
