Because many smart players have developed ingenious strategies ingame, I feel the urge to include bits of the strategies in this wiki. The challenge is to balance making the game too easy for noobs versus striving to make the wiki a repository of all knowledge of current game mechanics and ingame community. I believe the game is not easy for noobs and it is not likely to become too easy for noobs no matter what is included in the wiki or the forums. So I will continue to err on the side of disclosing the less-obvious strategies. Some wiki editors have removed a few of the strategies I have included -- while that is your prerogative, an explanation of why you feel it should not be in the wiki would be appreciated.
I tend to be an exclusionist when it comes to wiki edits. What that means to me is I try to edit so that information is in as few places as reasonable -- and hopefully in the most appropriate places (where new players might look). Describing how many raw fibers are needed for hackling, in my opinion, can appropriately exist in the hackling wiki entry -- having the same information described (sometimes multiple times on a page) in "hemp," "retting," "breaking and scutching," "raw fibers," "hackling machine," and "sliver" serves little purpose and it is likely that information in many articles will not be updated consistently leading to conflicting articles.
With a few exceptions, I consider information that is straightforward in the game (like prices for items in the shop) superfluous in this wiki, so I tend to delete references to it.
I am also fond of redirects, maybe even more fond of them than the wiki admins are. I feel setting up a redirect, which takes a few seconds, makes editing easier and more efficient than having the scores of potential wiki editors learn if they want to make an internal link to South Winter Isle but want to call the link SWI, to type SWI. I say make SWI's wiki entry be simply "#redirect South Winter Island" and be done with it -- and I have done just that. Now anyone who wants to make an internal link to the abbreviation can do it with minimal wiki know-how.

Cheating is a pet peeve of mine even though I cheated on math in 2nd and 3rd grades (might have continued had a 3rd grade teacher not caught me cheating on a multiplication test -- damned times tables). Psychoanalysis aside, I knew people through high school and college who cheated in very sophisticated ways and, in some classes, a *majority* of the students were cheating regularly -- talk about feeling isolated considering most cheaters wanted nothing to do with me. So I know a lot about uneven playing fields and the myriad excuses people use to justify their actions (my personal fave: college is an obstacle course that you get through any way you can). I seriously struggled getting my engineering degree although being diagnosed with dyslexia my junior year in college helped me focus on study techniques that worked better for me. I have a degree, a good job, and a professional engineer license which I am particularly proud of considering I did not get any special accomodations for my dyslexia when I took the licensing exams. Most of the cheaters I have known have "earned" degrees, good jobs, and contrary to popular belief they sleep very well. Am I somehow better than cheaters? Clearly not as I was a cheater when I was young. But I *am* a helluva engineer and that is what matters to me.
I have played literally hundreds of multiplayer games and I know admins have their hands full trying to deal with rule-benders and -breakers. More profitable games tend to outright ban accounts when cheating is proven because they can afford it. Smaller games tend to be more lenient and understandably so. I was pleased when it was announced in TW that "UNATTENDED MACROING WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM RANKINGS" as I thought permanent removal from rankings was appropriate -- basically this would allow an unattended macroer to do everything ingame except show off an epeen in the form of a 55x55 pixel statue.
I may be a hermaphrodite which probably means I can have an epeen. No, I defintely have an epeen.

Now I can show off my epeen via statue -- after 22 months and 4 days of playing, I ascended to godhood. On 11/11/07 my statue was released.

- How much cheating would you accept of a doctor in medical school but still allow the doctor to perform surgery on you?
- How much cheating would you accept of an engineer in engineer school but still cross a bridge designed by the engineer?
- How much cheating would you accept of an architect in architect school but still go to the top of a skyscraper designed by the architect?
- How much cheating would you accept of a lover but still remain in the relationship?
