As a former ATitD player, I can attest that its pretty fun the first couple months.  After a while though, you race through the tech tree and build everything you possibly can and theres no point... not enough new technology or "tests" (the heart of the game) to keep one interested at $13.95 a month.  But worth sinking a couple months in...

And the similarities between TW and ATitD are few and far between, so no lawsuit (even if you can sue for anything these days)

What about that one guy who ate at McDonalds a lot, started going a bit neurotic, and killed 21 people at the McDonalds a while ago? His wife sued McDonalds for making him go neurotic.

I think Qill has a fair chance.

I heard a guy sued McDonalds for making him fat. God damn McDonalds... He told them to stop selling him cheeseburgers, but Noooooo, anything for a buck. Anyways, I concur with radio. It was fun for a couple months but not worth 13.95 to keep going. However, I think there were more similarities. They had the same problems as us (not enough space) and the same game feel (Doing something that, for gods sake, should get boring and repititious after very little time. Then doing it some more. Then losing sleep because you need to do it.) And the same neighbor policy ( Hey hows it going dont come onto my property.      jerk) but lost when it came to price. Plus, they put a boundary on their game. They've stated that it has a definate end, that when all the technology is found they're going to turn it off (unless this has changed since I quit).

Strangely, the definite end was a selling point to me...I could quit cleanly or re-up for the next telling.  Of course, the end was supposed to be February, then April, early July...now, who knows.

And I found the amount of space to be excessive...Egypt for me was too big and travel too slow.

If it had ended relatively on time and been a bit more compact I'd have stayed to the end and considered the second telling.

So you are saying that they plan to drop this episode and reopen it useing all the things they have been working on all this time for episode 2.

That sounds like a plan to me, I may have to try it.
Seems like somebody suggested that for Toadwater. I just can't remember who.

Taken from the ATitD site:
A Tale in the Desert is the first online game to focus on long-term planning and long-term goals rather than combat. Goals include the creation of great works of art and architecture, becoming a powerful leader, and building wealth.

I dont know? Do they keep all of the technology? well regardless, what I meant was there still existed a lack of "good" land. (Ore veins, mines, water front property etc). Since all land is good land in TW, the games share a problem, if the connection is a bit thin.

there are "bad" lands in TW, for example having a nice 'lil base behind a large god that wont let you thrue if you die

yes. bad land/good land is defined by the questions as "Who is your neighbor?" and "Can people get to your base easily?" and "Can you get to your base easily" and "How many fence layers do you need to protect your base?"
