So with the latest update, courtesy of our admins, I'm creating this topic much like I did with the drought topic. Let's try to figure out the new content through theories and process of elimination.

Recently Useless But Now Useful Item:
- Oars. Used to draw a line in the sand next to water sources (confirmed on Asturias, has anyone tried on a normal continent?). Oar has to exceed a certain minimum level. 28 does not work but 47 does, so the minimum is somewhere between there.

New Textile & Weaving Goodies:
- Likely products from the new Jute crop.

Items Larry Stonecrush Does Not Want:
- Talking to Larry Stonecrush now, he reveals that he is looking for some wheat, possibly Common Wheat Kernels which can be garnered from drying and threshing wheat.

New Crop Rules:
- Appears to need to be planted next to irrigated land which can be obtained by drawing a line in the sand with an oar and then digging the ditch with a shovel. Does massive amounts of damage to yourself and the shovel to dig the ditch and each section must be dug to 30 cm deep (no small task). Do not know if differing fertilization rules exist for Jute.

New Spawn Item:
One Jute crop spawns on NWI and one also spawns on SWI. Must be harvested with a Scythe I believe.

I will try to keep this topic as up to date as possible by editing it as people suggest/figure out things.

Here is what I've learned so far.

You can use high level oars to draw shapes in the sand and then once they are there you can dig in them to make irrigation.  I assume you have to be connected to water but i have not tested it away from water as digging the ditch is VERY VERY hard.  25 damage to you per dig attempt and it does 10 damage to your shovel every time you try to dig.

The ditch appears to need to be 30 cm deep to get water in it.  Once it has water, it will increase your planting odds for crops grown within three squares of it.  If it does more than that, I have not discovered it yet.  I don't know how much it increases your odds yet I have to test more.  The ditch will slowly fill itself back in and eventually go away but it will take a long time. 3 years?  I don't know.

So the old item that has a use ...is the oar...I know level 67 works. I have not tried lower ones but i've heard that level 1 and level 2 oars do not work.

Updated.

I hope that the topic does not reveal too much about the new content for the admins liking, if so feel free to change/remove whatever. I know they prefer that people wait at least a week before divulging information on new content but as this topic is a conglomeration of ideas and information from the entire community it would seem OK in my mind.

If you want to fill a ditch, don't think depth matters, click it once with EBP and it fills up and you get a 100% ferted square. And you can walk over the lines if you haven't dug them yet to remove them..

Also, Drawing a line above or below you seems to make the line horizontal.  And drawing a line to your left or right makes it vertical. You can also overlap these strokes and make an intersection.

Travis has mentioned it before when previously releasing new content.
