Sand makes glass. Mining was the only thing that fit for getting sand to make the glass, why I agreed with it to go under mining.

If only we could make tools that would help us ... relocate some sort of material from the ground to being ... not on the ground.

Sort of like a giant spoon maybe.

We could whittle it, and it could help us with irrigation and outhouses too!  Maybe even have it waxable!

My two cents:  Add some sort of dwarven scooping spoon to our whittling options so we don't have to dig with our bare hands.

How long will it take to impliment glass blowing and sand making and bottle making and all this?

How long will it take to change the price of the bottles currently in use?

Anyone get where I'm coming from?

Why not make alchemy usable as it is?

If ya wanna make a bunch of cool stuff that sounds wonderful, but why not allow it to be worth playing as it is until it is better?

Like putting a donut tire on your car until you can get the flat fixed. Better than sitting on the side of the road bitching about a flat for weeks, or driving it to town really slow on the flat instead of getting out and putting a crappy spare on.

So I'm working on adding glass making but I have two different ideas.

Both ways start the same, where you bring sand with buckets to the furnace.  Sand makes molten glass but has a chance to clog up the furnace requiring a mallet to "shatter" the mess of glass.

Here is the differentiating parts: What to do with molten glass?

1.  Using a glassblowing pipe, make each molten glass into a flask.  Would require a system to select what glass making item you want (I was thinking something like how the mineral selection worked).

2.  A glassblowing NPC that would happily take your molten glass and make into the tonics, but at a cost.  The item would be semi-random and depending on how "rare" the item is, how much he would be willing to do.  Every few weeks, the item would switch (automatically cycle).  I was thinking a GR would let him make 30 flasks for you, while a golden strawberry would only have him make 25.

Thoughts?  I'm personally leaning towards the second option because having NPC that provide jobs is something I would like to see more of.  Also, both could be offered with a time versus money issue.

I am a really big fan of the mineral crafting screen and selecting what tool/item you want to make. The only thing with glass, I don't see how many options we would have to make right now. What else in the game could potentially be made with glass?

I figured with glass making we would make tools and stuff for future content.  Hopefully the system will be fairly simple.

Greenhouses! Glass panes, posts, planks. Enter them and grow stuff in there!

I like that.  Perhaps if we ever get genetic plants, we could do crazy genetic experiments in green houses.
