I looooove political correctness.

It's ok for everyone else to have differences, but not Christians.

Don't like the name? Don't have a tree.

This stuff's been going on for years, and enough is enough.

First point to make, is that a "Christmas" tree has nothing to do with Christianity.  I don't think Santa Clause is a representation of the Three Wise Men.  Oh, and there were no cute bunnies with multi-colored eggs at the crucifixtion either ;)

The eggs and bunnies had to do with spring. Bunnies lay eggs. Eggs were colored to ward off Jesus from coming back from the dead. They think that if he remains dead, peace will remain because of the contract that God made with the rest of the world. If Jesus was dead, there was peace on earth. Jesus didn't like bunnies, eggs, or colors. We put them all together, and we also get spring. Spring has to do with Jesus going up to heaven, because he sprung up. The Romans made a play on words and, thus, easter is celebrated in the spring.

Well, the christians said the jewish were devils... Atheism can have a say, too!

Actually, the widely practiced versions of the holidays Christmas and Easter were originally Yule and Beltane respectively.  During the conversion of Pagans to Catholosism, it was easier to assimilate the Pagan faith then it was to change their views.

"You celebrate Yule, we celebrate Christmas!  What a coincidence"

As Catholosims started in Rome, it is important to realize that this isn't the first time they pulled this.  Rome has never had a religion of their own that I know of, but since the Roman Catholic chirch is the basis for Christianity (Big mistake, BTW) we get to celebrate Pagan holidays in the name of Jesus.

...snip... since the Roman Catholic chirch is the basis for Christianity...snip...

Where did you get that?!?

As the name implies, Jesus Christ is the basis for Christianity, not the Roman Catholic Church.  He was around a long time before the pope.

I might be exaggerating a bit.

Catholic Theology is widely accepted as what Christians are supposed to believe.

The teachings of Jesus are infailable.  He was a brilliant man.  Unfortunately, most (And notice I say most, there are good Christians in the world.  Just not many) Christians don't actually follow Jesus' teachings.

And the "Christian" holidays that everyone celebrates were set in place by the Roman Catholic church.  Jesus never said "Hey, it's my birthday (Which is not in December BTW).  Let's put up a tree and put candles on it!"

I'm going to let my rant die here.  Please, feel free to discuss the topic further.  I just get a little pissy when I talk about it.

Happy Holidays ;D

Wasn't Peter the first Roman (Catholic) Pope?
Or do they just talk about popes occupying the seat of peter?

It's just a catholic legend that Peter was the first pope. In reality it took few hundred years until the first pope.

Bunnies don't lay eggs.  They are mammals and give birth to live young.

We should call it

"the tree that we put brightly wrapped packages under for our friends and family to open on december the 25th."

hey honey! we are going to shop for the tree that we put.....

It just rolls of the tongue yes?

I have now seen "Holiday" season on some mail box junk.

Real dilema for shops isn't it. The reason for buying stuff to give to peep is because it is Christmas. If it isn't christmas, no point in buying presents.

Of course, putting a dead cat in a box and wrapping it up to put under the tree can be done at any season ;g
