Title: XP Tracker public test
Post by: Twisti on May 18, 2008, 06:56:15 pm
Hi, I wrote a handy little tool for those power gamers out there. It tracks all your skills, XP, and most importantly, XP change over time (XP per hour), like this:

There are still a few features missing, but I wanted to share what I got so far, since it pretty much does all the crucial stuff. If you try it, please post here if you have any trouble, or any suggestions as to how to improve it.

"Installation" manual:

Unzip the program anywhere you want. Start it, then click "Add", and put in your login name (NOT your forum name!) and your ENCRYPTED password. If you don't know how to get your encrypted password, I put an explanation at the end of this post. Once you entered the info, press OK, select the character from the list (unless it's already selected) and press "Select".

From there on out, it should update your skills every 60 seconds. I'm afraid it does not update workers at this time.

Other than watching your XP raise, there is little else to do. You can now benchmark how much different tasks give you. You can also use it to increase your e-peen by bragging: a click on one of the C-buttons will  copy that skills information in a neat format to your clipboard. Try it and brag here!

If you don't know how to get your encrypted password, follow these simple steps:

  • Go to your Toadwater directory (typically C:\Program Files\Toadwater)
  • Open the file Toadwater.ini with a text editor, such as notepad.
  • Find a section that looks like this (the numbers behind user and password will be different for you):
user4=Twisti
password4=7d141705d03ae5970967frb4833f2e9b
  • Your encrypted password is the random numbers and letters behind password*=. Just copy that and put it in the password field.
  • Make sure you copy something else now, so you don't accidentally paste your encrypted password onto IRC or something similar.

Disclaimer: if this program eats your dog, sleeps with your wife or sets your PC on fire, you can blame me, but not sue me. If you think this will steal your account, remember that I'm a high level God with his own continent. Would I REALLY risk getting my own account banned just so I could steal yours ? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Version History:

"Copy all" button added.

I'm currently trying it out, but every time I restart it, I have to re-enter my username and encrypted password.  Is that supposed to happen?

Yes, in the final version I will make it just read the Toadwater.ini file on it's own.

Just wondering, what programming language did you use?  I'm thinking about learning some programming over the summer, and maybe taking a class in the fall if I like it.

It's written in C#, and you are not allowed to decompile it.

New version of XPTracker:

Changes:

Always on top button.
Copy all button.

Sorry, still no reading the toadwater.ini on itself, and the reset button is still a bit borked.

http://twisti.brokenmacro.com/XPTracker092.exe

As always, post suggestions and bug reports here.

How did you do that ?

Title: Re: XP Tracker public test

Have no idea, it just happened, ran it for third time and it was ok.

By the way, i know it cannot read .ini but if it could remember added chars it would be great :)

I'd never trust running anything like this.

I doubt anyone cares what you trust and what you don't.

And what he can do? its not like he will steal 50 accounts and then sell each 50$ and run off with cash... couse no one would buy them ;)

And even if he would get full access to my comp, there is no damage he can do that format cant fix. So who cares if its troyan or anything.

Title: Re: XP Tracker public test
Post by: Twisti on May 30, 2008, 03:17:56 pm
It never ceases to amaze me how much of an utter retard Ragekai is. My character is rank #3, I own a continent and I'm one of the richest players in the game. I would have to be as stupid as Ragekai himself to risk that just to steal some idiotic rank 200 char.

Twisti, you should know that there's a certain stigma about handing out passwords to people. Of course there's no reason to assume you'd do it, but there's also no reason to assume that human beings will change their own ways.

Either way, SWEET!  :-*

Not working

Title: Re: XP Tracker public test

Maybe you should add something so we could see our rank in a current skill...so instead of this:
Total time: 01:21:48 - Construction XP (total): 4,221,013.80, XP (gained): 10,028.64, XP (per hour): 7,355.50

It'd be something like this:
Total time: 01:21:48 - Construction XP (total): 4,221,013.80, XP (gained): 10,028.64, XP (per hour): 7,355.50 Construction Rank: 171 or something

And how do you expect him to find out what rank you are?

Title: Re: XP Tracker public test

He can get rank the same way he gets skills I imagine. As to why, so you can show people your rank as well as your xp when you copy and paste the info somewhere.

You don't need to be logged in to grab information from a profile page.

Regardless, you think he is parsing a webpage? You have scripts that do this?

Those are bad.

Are you ever going to add the "reading the .ini part"? I'm not complaining, I'm asking so we are not wasting our time begging for you to add it if you aren't ever going to add it

Title: Re: XP Tracker public test

Begging me is wasted time either way, because whether I'll do it or not is in no way positively affected by begging me. I'll add it when I can muster up the energy.
