Several times now I have gone to the ashes page to upgrade my staff and it takes my ashes but does not do anything to my staff. I used to go to the page, click the link to upgrade the staff then quickly press the back button on my browser. I stopped doing that and instead started opening up a new window to do it. But once again it took my ashes. Dragoon is usually nice enough to give my ashes back, but I thought it might be worth looking at.
