One of my friends, a user by the name of magician, is having some troubles logging in.

His username and password work fine in the client, but not in the forum. Theres mention of people needing to change passwords or email addresses to fix problems, but seeing as he can't log into the forums to do this theres no way to do so.

Anyone have any advice? - or is it a matter of waiting for Matt to look at it

will your friend give you his password and user name so you can try on your machine? if it works you could always change his password for him and then if he can log in after that he can change it again

When your friend is able to log in, ask him to pm me, please.

have him use the lost password functionality so that it will send an email to his account. if you think the email address is wrong on the account, pm me with the correct one. There is an email address currently on the account. The lost password feature should clear this up.

Thanks all,

It's all fixed now. The catalogue of problems was something like this:
1) University account seems to junk toadwater e-mails
2) At some point realising this (when I couldn't get a confirm e-mail) we asked matt to manually verify the account.
3) I then changed the e-mail account to a temporary hotmail account so I could getr the e-mail... then forget where those message were going, and that account is not used for any other e-mails.
4) The server crashed, so Matts manual password fix was undone
5) It was now resolved by manually resetting the password on the server (thank Matt), which then allowed me to login and change my passsword.
6) I'm now also going to change my e-mail address to a yahoo one that I do check occasionally!

Hopefully that's the end of the fiasco. Many thanks to all for the suggestions and help.
