So the formula for sap taps has changed.
Up to now, it has been easier to tap balsam.
Does the new formula give any advantage to taping higher level trees, for cash?

Not really, unless you go over the cap a *lot*. The whole point is that balsam sap is very good at passive money farming (thanks to the combination of fast drop rate and the +5 base bonus). Even just using ponderosa (with it's drop rate halved compared to balsam) isn't worth it. If you do routinely get over the cap, higher level trees will help with that (simply pick the highest level you can fill to cap). I could make a nice chart to pick the optimal tree for different harvest rates, but that's work.
