So I finally made the leap haha

So much land - how do you make any sense of it? Do you ever explore far? How?

Seems I found a nice quiet corner ... so far so good Cheesy

Question for elders - what things do you consider when planning/building a base? I imagine some aspects become clear later on and are not obvious at the beginning?

I looked for a place where I only had to build one wall of fencing.  I planned about much health it would take me to get there.

And as it turned out, it was someone's old base.  Full of plots, healing trees, and hoards!

Nice! I wouldn't mind a few healing trees and maybe a few seeds...

I think I'm on a virgin land, no evidence of anyones works here... So full freedom to achieve the perfect design =)

Let me know where you are (locus) and I'll come drop off some healing food for you and seeds and whatever else I have that might help.

Thank you 8track! Great to have good neighbours! =)

I believe I'm couple clicks south from you - I think I saw your fences on my way down... I'm around 0.2N 5.7E...

OMW there now with some goodies.  If you don't have any hoards down, I'll slap a couple down, but it'll take about an hour or so for them to be ready to use.

And no problem, always happy to help.

I explore often and range far (trying to fill in as much as my map as I can).  There are many bases with fences that have fallen (players who have quit).

I'm there.  Do you have a hoard you want this in, or should I put one down?

No worries.  I'm putting one outside your fence by the gate.  Also be aware that your base is in "shallow" water.  It can be walked on by anyone.

The lighter colored water is shallow.  You should be able to find your base on there based on coords.

hehe.  yeah it can be slow going.

Shallow water? Haha I guess that's the reason no one claimed the spot =)

I have nothing to hide yet anyway... I guess I'll be looking for safer place eventually :-/

You should be OK where you are.  Just make a smaller fenced in area for your hoards and anything else you want protected.  A base within a base within a base.  Stuff like that.

So, how exactly does shallow water work? People can walk over the water?

Yes.  It can be walked on, but there are no trees to heal with and no outhouses.
